Our friends have twins, both born with cleft pallets, and other health issues. These medical issue are expensive, and costs are increasing every day. So now I ask you to please consider looking at the wonderful items we have gathered and consider bidding on something. You will not only be getting a wonderful goodie, but helping a family. It’s a twofold.
Some of the things we have gathered for the auction:

Autographed books: Lee Martindale, D.A.Adams, Alexander Brown, J.L. Mulvihill, Tommy Hancock, Logan Masterson, Kimberly Richardson, Herika Raymer, Angilia Sparrow and more…

Original artwork from: Mitch Foust, Keith wood, Adam Engal, and Kelly LaPlante (this piece is also signed by the subject J Michael Tatum [Sebatian Michaelis of Black Butler])

Signed prints from: “Final Destination”, “The Walking Dead”, “And Child’s Play”

Handmade jewelry and other Handmade items

And of course there are a few pieces from us.

Please check out this wonderful auction and consider bidding on something, and if you would, please consider sharing this on public media so we can get this out there to as many people as possible. ALL proceeds go to the family, there are no fees on this site and I will be keeping none of these funds. Every penny raised will be helping two beautiful children get the healthy start to life that they deserve!

If I didn’t have the right stones, I did my best to get them. I aimed to please.

Well, I’ve decided it was time to bring that same service to all of you. So while you are browsing, if you see something you like, but the metal or stones are not to your first choice,  look below and to the right of the image to see if it says custom jewelry, if it does, email me,  so we can talk about making you the piece you want, I have way too many stone choices to list (below you will find a short sample list of some of the more popular stones I have), and if I don’t already have what you are looking for, I can probably get them. I can also make adjustments to a design, if it’s not quite right for you. I would love to make the perfect piece for you. Note: ALL of the ear cuffs are open to customization…

More items will be added to the site as well over the few weeks, I will be adding circlets, “barefoot sandals”, and slave bracelets as well as a few other things, so check back with us. We are working to get some of the wonderful bags, bows, and over skirts that Christine makes posted to the site.  Also, you can follow us on Facebook  for updates on our convention adventures, sneak peeks at new items and sales…

Peace and Happiness to you all…

Kelly

I have the first of what I hope to be many shown here, they will be available with stones of many colors, so watch for the listing to go up along with a few other surprises I am working on from the comic…

If you are unfamiliar with Mysteries of the Arcana, the artwork is great, the characters are amazingly witty, finding trouble around every corner, the story is well written and keeps you coming back for more…  it’s just a fun read!

As see in "Mysteries of the Arcana" web comic

Over the next 2 weeks we will be updating the site and adding a bunch of new goodies. We have been hard at work, creating some new and interesting things for all of you… we hope you enjoy them all. Keep checking back with us and don’t be afraid to email us with any questions or comments. On a side note, just about anything you see can be made with different stones or different color wire, so if you see something you like, but the color or stone doesn’t work for you, shoot me an email at: geminidreamdesigns@gmail.com and let’s see if we can’t find the right fit for you.

Thanks again for your support and we hope to see some of you soon as our next leg of convention travels begins in October, and don’t forget to check out our Facebook page for updates and sneak peeks of goodies there as well.

Amethyst beads and teardrops grace the first entry into "The Corinne Collection."

The architechtural and industrial elements of Steampunk design are usually juxtaposed with its Victorian elements, drawing on the romantic styling of that ornate age.

In working with glass beads, stone and assorted chains or metals, artist Kelly LaPlante channeled the Victorian side of the equation as she created her elegant necklace of deep swirls and delicate amethyst beads, which can be paired with simple, matching drop earrings (sold separately).

Kelly is creating several variations of her original design, which so reminiscent of her ancestors generations that she chose to call the these related pieces “The Corinne Collection” after her maternal great-grandmother, Corinne Lefebvre.  Corinne’s generation, native to Canada and more than two centuries ago to the Alsace-Lorraine region of France, were dressmakers, milliners, lace-makers and embroiderers  working in and around Montreal in the Province of Quebec at the turn of the 20th century. Kelly and I attribute our various skills in art and design to those ancestral genes.

Watch for more additions to this romantic collection.

Dreams.  We all have them, but sometimes life gets in the way and those dreams are deferred … or forced to change. Life changes with it. Shifting gears.

For me, the change began with my decision to become a midlife student majoring in Photography. As often happens, on my foray through those core requirements, I stumbled into two classes that changed the course of my life: sculpture and an odd summer class on the art and craft of Steampunk – a mix of styles that can be described as the Victorian era meeting the Industrial Age.

Touching  stone and wire, I found myself listening to the stone, to the metal,  as they told me what they wanted to be. In the Steampunk class — the first of its kind at that time – I found myself putting my lifelong “recycle” and “re-purpose” skills to work creating whimsical weaponry and one-of-a-kind jewelry pieces fabricated from recycled materials or natural stone and glass.

People took notice. Thus was born Gemini Dream Designs.

My first Steampunk show was a culmination of the Steampunk course; that was quickly followed by a month-long showing in Nashville deemed a “Pick of the Week” by the Nashville Scene in 2011. My mom and I were later showcased at MidSouthCon in Memphis in 2012, where I exhibited at the Con’s art show. Mom was a costuming panelist throughout the weekend.

This fledgling company dovetailed nicely with my mother’s long-time love for and experience in costuming and design. What was a four-decade long hobby transformed itself into specialized costuming: Steampunk, Renaissance, Medieval, Sci-Fi  costumes, and more.

Mom, now retired (sort of) from her lifelong career as an editor, had been creating costumes for my children and myself for years; now that craft was merged into Gemini Dream Designs. All work involving textiles is her domain, including the headpieces and accessories that will be showcased here in the coming months.

As we continue to expand this website and our online store, we hope you will take the time to browse our creations.
